Herbert Knauer Science Award 2022
KNAUER Wissenschaftliche Geräte GmbH" has announced a prize to promote innovative solutions in the field of liquid chromatography on the occasion of its 60th anniversary. The prize includes a voucher for scientific equipment from KNAUER worth 20,000 euros!
Markus Matz from our group receives this award for his work on the combination of NMR spectroscopy and liquid chromatography. The award ceremony took place during the company anniversary celebration on July 1, 2022 in Berlin. Impressions of the company celebration you can get by the adjacent pictures or via the homepage of Knauer GmbH: 04.07.2022 | KNAUER NEWS.
This award represents an important recognition of our long-standing scientific work on the development of combined characterization methods with molecular information.
The development of combined methods for molecular characterization is an important focus of our research (Homepage: Research Areas). Part of this area is the development of coupled methods based on size exclusion chromatography (SEC), which has now been extended to high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). In this combination, separation by HPLC is complemented by simultaneous analysis of each subfraction using NMR spectroscopy to arrive at correlated information about the molecular structure of each subfraction of the analyte.
Prize application and awarding
All applicants for the award had to present their work in a 5min video, after which an expert jury headed by "chromatography pope" and technical book author Dr. Stavros Kromidas selected a winner from among the submissions, taking into account both the scientific merit and the suitability of the work for the focus of the award (innovative solutions in the field of liquid chromatography).
