CATACT Overview
CATACT is part of the KIT Light Source. It is is an electron synchrotron at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), which serves as a synchrotron radiation source. Together with KIT, the KIT-Lightsource belongs to the Helmholtz Association of German Research Centers.
The CAT end station of the CATACT beamline at KIT Light Source is dedicated to catalytic research using X-ray spectroscopic techniques. It is operated by the Grunwaldt group at the Institute of Catalysis Research and Technology ( IKFT) and Institute for Chemical Technology and Polymer Chemistry (ITCP).
The infrastructure built up at the CAT end station includes high level controlled reactive gas supply and distribution systems, number of operando cells and the analytic devices for difference heterogeneous reaction in gas and liquid phases. The X-ray studies are supported by the studies in the labs in the vicinity of the CATACT beamline and at ITCP and IKFT.
The laboratory in the vicinity of the CATACT beamline offers the possibility to conduct the catalytic experiments offline. The laboratory is equpped with a supply of reactive gases and gas alarm systems. Mobile in-situ and operando setups can be placed into the fume cabinets and operated independently from each other.
